  Education

As Director of Education for the Department of Physiology, I am responsible for integrating all teaching activities, in particular those related to the education of 1st year medical students (as Course Director) and those dealing with graduate students (as member of the Physiology Graduate Student committee). My professional experience includes basic research in physiology and pharmacology pertaining to cardiovascular regulation, the role of vasopressin in cardiovascular control, systemic and regional hemodynamics of experimental hypertension, and the use of allosteric effectors of hemoglobin. I also have 12 years of experience in the clinical development of drugs in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including in heart failure, myocardial ischemia, pulmonary hypertension, hypertension, surgical and critical care, renal and endocrine indications (vasopressin antagonists), oncology (brain tumors, lung and cervical cancer), in-licensing and out-licensing of molecules for drug development, and regulatory aspects (FDA and EMEA interactions). Finally, I have been involved in medical and graduate school education throughout my career.
