As Assistant Director of the Cardiovascular Center (Director A.W. Cowley, Jr.), I am responsible for organizing the recruitment of new Faculty and facilatating the work of current members of the CVC. My professional experience includes basic research in physiology and pharmacology pertaining to cardiovascular regulation, the role of vasopressin in cardiovascular control, systemic and regional hemodynamics of experimental hypertension, and the use of allosteric effectors of hemoglobin. I also have 12 years of experience in the clinical development of drugs in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including in heart failure, myocardial ischemia, pulmonary hypertension, hypertension, surgical and critical care, renal and endocrine indications (vasopressin antagonists), oncology (brain tumors, lung and cervical cancer), in-licensing and out-licensing of molecules for drug development, and regulatory aspects (FDA and EMEA interactions). Finally, I have been involved in medical and graduate school education throughout my career.
